Strategic Cooperation Agreement between the National Technical University of Athens and Deloitte Greece

The National Technical University of Athens and Deloitte Greece signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at cooperation in the areas of new technologies, research, education, and human resources development, reflecting a shared orientation towards innovation and sustainable growth.

Deloitte holds a leading position in advisory services related to technology solutions and digital transformation, strategy, risk management, and financial transactions, as well as audit, tax, and legal services. Within its technology consulting services, the firm implements significant digital projects while continuously investing in the development of specialised human capital. With 50% of its employees holding a technology background, the company demonstrates in practice its commitment to leveraging the STEM educational ecosystem, strengthening the connection between young scientists and the demands of the modern labour market.

Under the Memorandum of Understanding, planned activities include the exchange of expertise, support for NTUA’s educational and research programmes, opportunities for internships and professional employment for students and graduates, as well as the joint development and implementation of innovative sustainable development initiatives, fostering the growth of talent and expertise that will address the challenges of the future and the digital era.

Commenting on the signing of the Memorandum, the Rector of the National Technical University of Athens, Professor Ioannis K. Chatzigeorgiou, noted: “Our cooperation with Deloitte Greece forms part of a series of strategic synergies between NTUA and internationally distinguished private and public bodies that are leaders in their respective fields. Our goal is to strengthen the university’s connection with the productive fabric of the country, to collaborate in advancing educational, research, and social work, and to engage jointly in research programmes, knowledge exchange, and the organisation of scientific and educational initiatives.”

The Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Greece, Dimitris Koutsopoulos, stated: “Our cooperation with the National Technical University of Athens represents a strategic investment in the new generation of scientists and in strengthening the Greek innovation ecosystem. At a time when technology and sustainability are redefining the future, the connection between education and the labour market is more critical than ever. Through practical opportunities, joint programmes, and open channels of communication with the academic community, we contribute meaningfully to preparing young people for the modern professional world, and we continue to invest in the future by building bridges between education and the labour market.”

The National Technical University of Athens and Columbia Engineering successfully co-organised the first scientific workshop of the current year, entitled «Infrastructure and Energy Sustainability in a Changing Climate». The event brought together distinguished Professors from both universities, many of whom are NTUA alumni. The workshop was held at the Zografou Polytechnic Campus, attracting students, researchers, and Professors, and was also available via live stream, which was watched in real time by more than 700 viewers.

The presentations and discussions focused on critical challenges of the energy and environmental transition, covering topics such as:

  • Decarbonisation of the building stock through advanced analytical tools
  • The use of trustworthy artificial intelligence to address climate change
  • The challenges and limits of smart cities
  • The application of artificial intelligence in autonomous mobility

The presentations covered, among other topics:

  • The sustainable electrification of Europe’s first «Renewable Energy Valley»
  • Strategies for reducing the carbon footprint
  • Technological solutions for fire prevention and suppression
  • Innovative approaches to infrastructure monitoring using IoT and non-destructive testing methods
  • Measures to enhance infrastructure resilience and adaptation to climate change

This workshop is the first in a series of events to follow within the framework of the collaboration between NTUA and Columbia University.
