The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), one of the world’s leading technological universities, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, laying the groundwork for the development of a strategic and long-term academic and research partnership.
The initiative for the partnership originated with Professor Ioannis Antoniadis, Dean of NTUA’s School of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with NTUA alumnus Christos E. Athanasiou, Professor at the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech.
On the Georgia Tech side, a decisive role was played by Mitchell Walker, Chair of the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, and Bernard Kippelen, Vice Provost for International Initiatives. Two other NTUA alumni also serve in the same department at Georgia Tech: Professor Georgios Kardomateas and Professor Panagiotis Tsiotras, further highlighting the prominent role played by NTUA Alumni on the international academic and research stage at leading universities worldwide.
The Memorandum of Cooperation provides, among other things, for the development of joint research programmes, the exchange of students, researchers, and professors, the co-organisation of scientific conferences and events, as well as the exploration and implementation of innovative educational initiatives in cutting-edge fields of engineering and technology.
This agreement further strengthens NTUA’s international presence and outward orientation, confirming both its close and enduring relationship with its Alumni worldwide and its role as a hub of excellence, innovation, and international collaboration with leading universities across the globe.
