Dafni Karaiskaki

All engineers. Yet a time machine we have not yet built. Something that, even today when almost everything is possible, remains fantastical — and allows us to look back and feel nostalgic…

Expanded time. I am not referring to the actual duration of the studies — which was, in truth, considerable for most of us — but to the exceptionally dense and rich content of experiences that one rarely encounters again.

I want to dwell on two concepts, two pairs of words: active knowledge and human relationships. These are distinctive qualities of the architecture school. Active knowledge: constructions, drawings, models, trial and error. And again from the beginning. Body and soul. And the latter creates human relationships that are hard to forge a second time. I honour both every day: the first has become almost a motto. Without the second our practice would not exist. I met Christos in October 2003 somewhere in front of the cafeteria next to the entrance on Stournari Street. In 2023 we founded a practice together. We built our own time machine.
